Pryme is a nice, little webcam program, capable of the most common things. I made it a few years ago, as a hobby-project.
Also be sure to check out my new webcam program called TinCam. It has a lot of nice features that Pryme doesn't have. And TinCam is what pays for my studies.
Pryme is available for free, but my focus is on TinCam now, so i can't offer any kind of support for it.

I used your Pryme software for a week now. I must say, it is the best simple software I found out there (way better than any that comes with the webcam, whatever brand you get). I was then looking for a software for ip cameras. I could not find any that i liked. I came back to your site and tried TinCam, but it does not support ip camers either. Maybe it is something you can work on?

I have thought about ip-cameras, and i might implement that some time in the future, but it's not on the top of the list at the moment.
I am not sure if it exists but theoretically it should be possible to make a WDM driver that gets images from an ip camera and makes them available to all webcam software. It might be out there, i haven't found it though.

Please write a software package that would allow me to receive amateur television through my wireless card and watch it on my computer monitor. I want to be able to tune selectively to all the television frequencies on the 2.4 gigahertz band- 2.3, 2.302, 2.3100 ... 2.4, 2.41053, 2.4110, ... and on up to 2.6800 gigahertz.

I'm not sure that's even theoretically possible. I don't think it's possible to tune a wireless card like that.

Hi, Thanks for a great software.
I was wondering if "start auto-capturing when pryme starts" checkbox is not working in all versions of the program or is it just a problem with my computer? I'm trying to schedule pryme to start taking pictures on a certain time but auto-capturing does not work.
Other fix to my problem would be to make a fixing-batch to pryme to give the user a checkbox to close connection after every file transferred to ftp (now my ftp refuses to accept connections after a few pictures because it reaches the limit of simultaneous connections). At least this is my diagnose.

Hey Mats if you are running Windows Vista just set the windows compatability to windows xp and the auto capturing should start at start up. If you don't know how -- click start -- select help and support and search for compatability wizard it will show you step by step.

Hello Simon,
Would I be able to use your program to save pictures from numerous webcams plugged into the same computer? I want to be able to cover numerous parts of the house at the same time.
Also, is there a way for the camera to just start taking pictures when motion is detected rather than continuosly as I don't know if I would have enough drive space?

Pryme can do motion detection, but only one camera at the time.
My commercial software, TinCam, can handle multiple cameras, so you might want to try that out.

Best freebie I have come accross. Been using it for a couple of years.
TinCam is good also - more things it can do- but I like the simplicity of Pryme.

Good morning.
I'm having trouble sending the pictures taken by the system of pryme through FTP.
When I make the connection test, which was introduced successfully performed.
And when I try to send the photos simply does not send, nor
shows error.
Is it any settings that wrong? I'm using in pryme
Windows and Linux also in both with the same problem.
Could you give me a hand.

Hej,
Pryme is really a good programme. When it works.
But it doesn't work always:
Very often when starting it crashes (doesn't do anything, only shows a white screen without the possibility to enter its menu or do anything in the proramme).
Other programmes do not crash when accessing the webcam.
Reinstalling Pryme doesn't help. :-(
By the way: What does "Pryme" mean and how is it pronounced? Is it English? Never heard the word before and it doesn't look like a Danish word.

i have not tried it yet but it seems to be a very good program.

Very pleased with Tincam except for one thing. As far as I can see the IP autoupdate doesn't work. Every morning at 5am my router reboots (it's to clear any problems crash or problem that may have occured) this mean the dynamic IP address it's given changes. Although I have the autodetect box ticked it does not pick up this change (how often do you poll?) So everyday when I am away from home I have to use logmein to go to my pc and manually detect the IP. This then works fine.
So I can use Tincam but this is a bit of a pain and is probably an easily fixable bug.

COULD NOT LOAD VIDEO DRIVER. but sometimes it's work fine. Apart of that, i'm trying to record outside but is just a big white image, indoors is works fine.
Any idea?
